response reading 26. Psalms 50. 7 "Hear, O my people, and I will speak, O Israel, and I will testify against you: I am God, your God. 8 I do not rebuke you for your sacrifices or your burnt offerings, which are ever before me. 9 I have no need of a bull from your stall or of goats from your pens, 10 for every animal of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills. 11 I know every bird in the mountains, and the creatures of the field are mine. 12 If I were hungry I would not tell you, for the world is mine, and all that is in it. 13 Do I eat the flesh of bulls or drink the blood of goats? 14 Sacrifice thank offerings to God, fulfill your vows to the Most High, 15 and call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me." hymnal 261 1 Blessed be the fountain of blood, to a world of sinners revealed Blessed be the dear Son of God, only by His stripes we are healed. Tho' I've wandered far from His fold, bringing to my heart pain and woe, Wash me in the blood of the Lamb, and I shall be whiter than snow. Whiter than the snow, whiter than the snow; Wash me in the blood of the lamb, and I shall be whiter than snow. 2 Thorny was the crown that he wore, and the cross His body overcame; Grievous were the sorrows He bore, but He suffered thus not in vain. May I to that fountain be led, made to cleanse my sins here below; Wash me in the blood that He shed, and I shall be whiter than snow. Whiter than the snow, whiter than the snow; Wash me in the blood of the lamb, and I shall be whiter than snow. 3 Father, I have wandered from Thee; often has my heart gone astray. Crimson do my sins seem to me water cannot wash them away. Jesus, to that fountain of Thine, leaning on Thy promise I go; Cleanse me by Thy washing divine, and I shall be whiter than snow. Whiter than the snow, whiter than the snow; Wash me in the blood of the lamb, and I shall be whiter than snow. amen. Leviticus 1:1-9 1 The LORD called to Moses and spoke to him from the Tent of Meeting. He said, 2 "Speak to the Israelites and say to them: 'When any of you brings an offering to the LORD, bring as your offering an animal from either the herd or the flock. 3 "'If the offering is a burnt offering from the herd, he is to offer a male without defect. He must present it at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting so that it will be acceptable to the LORD. 4 He is to lay his hand on the head of the burnt offering, and it will be accepted on his behalf to make atonement for him. 5 He is to slaughter the young bull before the LORD, and then Aaron's sons the priests shall bring the blood and sprinkle it against the altar on all sides at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting. 6 He is to skin the burnt offering and cut it into pieces. 7 The sons of Aaron the priest are to put fire on the altar and arrange wood on the fire. 8 Then Aaron's sons the priests shall arrange the pieces, including the head and the fat, on the burning wood that is on the altar. 9 He is to wash the inner parts and the legs with water, and the priest is to burn all of it on the altar. It is a burnt offering, an offering made by fire, an aroma pleasing to the LORD. Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors, And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. amen.
